My car grinds now going from 2nd to third. It's really getting annoying. At first, it was only when the car was cold. Now it does it after it's warmed up as well. But i've notice if i shift higher than 3 rpm, it doesn't grind. Any thoughts or reasoning on this?

 

i just thought about it a little more. When i shift at 2-2.5 rpm, inbetween the shifting, the need drops almost to 1 rpm, then when it's in the third gear, it pops back up to 1.5 or something like that. Can this cause it to grind because it's basically dropping all the way down?

 

you have a bad synchro. it dipping to low wont cause a grind. By the time the car hits the gear and dips in RPM it is already fully engaged in 3rd.
