Default TPMS light on

So I got in my car late last night and noticed my low tire pressure light was on (didnt recognize it at first, had to look in my manual to identify the light). Visual check that night showed the tire pressure was fine on all four corners. I checked them today and they are all at 34 and 35 psi but the light is still on. What may have caused the light to turn on? It was about 35 degrees last night, coldest night since I have had my z, but I cant imagine that affecting it.

Cold temps will always confuse the sensors into thinking your pressure is too low. Driving around for a little bit while it is warm outside will make the light go away.

Hope you aren't driving in 35 degree weather

(unless you got all seasons/winter tires)

I dont have all season tires, I just dont have a second car yet. I live in salt lake and soon enough, the highs will be 25-30. I have driven now for two days in warmer weather and the light is still on. On top of that, my Service Engine Soon light came on today at 2,990 miles. wtf? I have an appointment tomorrow at the dealership to get both checked out

Doesn't sound normal for the CEL to be on, definately get it checked out and tell them about the TPMS as well.

Just got back from the dealership and here is the deal.

TPMS - turned off the light and said the cold temps were what affected the sensors.

CEL - this is my second CEL in the car (with 3000 miles). Both times it was issues the the pressure sensor in the gas tank, they said. They ran some tests and found the purge control valve was stuck open. Ordered a new one and will get it fixed next week

It's funny you mention that, I just got in my car today on lunch and noticed my low pressure gauge was lit. What doesnt make sense is this, first thing this morning it was actually colder outside than it was at lunch time. This morning the tire pressure wasn't lit.

Also, I checked tire pressure and all 4 were at 31, which should be fine. The tempature wasn't even that low, maybe in the low 60's. I'm going to have the dealership look at it next time im in there.

Guys...I bought my Z 3 weeks ago..and the Low tire pressure light was on the day I test drove it up till today. The dealerships technicans told me it has to do with the aftermarket wheels and tires that are on the car. Something about the sensors that are in the the valve stems that were changed out for the aftermarket wheels. In result it confuses the computer thinking your pressure is off. Maybe thats a possibility?

Hmm well im not really sure to be honest then..The low tire pressure sensors are new to me..My cougar didnt have the sensors. Should I just take my car to Nissan and have that checked out? Because I bought my car at Subaru..

Do you get any tire pressure readings or are they all --?

When the dealership checked my pressure..all tires are at the correct level for that low profile tire. They are telling me the aftermarket tires have fooled the low tire pressure sensors thinking there is less air than there really is. Not too sure what to do from here ..

Ok, so your sensors are in there. Hmm, what pressure readings are you getting on the Infometer?

Okay, so my 07 NISMO Z TPMS light came on 2 days ago, I made sure all the tires were around 35 psi. They were low a few, around 28-29. And I have driven for 2 days and it still has not turned off. Is there something I can do without going to the dealer?

I had a similar problem the first year I had my Z.

After my first trip to Topeka and driving on the very heavily jointed concrete roads of the midwest, I haven't had any real problems since. Maybe there's something that needs to be jolted into (or out of) place?

I officially hate TPMS. It is only october and my TPMS light has come on twice now. I think I am going to call the dealership and see if there is anything I can do about it. Last time I was in because of the light they told me that new law states all 2007 and newer vehicles MUST be equipped with TPMS, so I am assuming they wont willingly disable it for me.

I hate the fact that law even exists!! What happened to having to check your tires every now and again to monitor pressure, treadlife, and damage?!?! Has the world honestly gotten that lazy?? It really pisses me off!

Yes, it has.

Add the fact that most manufacturers (including Nissan) usually specify a tire pressure that is at the bottom end of a recommended range (for comfort's sake), and that an under-inflated radial tire doesn't look that much different than an over-inflated radial tire, you have a recipe for major problems.
