Default oil change?

Getting ready for my first oil change in the Z, and wanted to go with a synthetic. Just wondering what is a good synthetic oil, that can be purchased at your local car store. thanks...drew

At 900 something miles I changed to Mobil 1 10W30 and changed the tranny fluid and differential fluid to Redline.

I thought on these car, you are not suppose to change oil until at least 3500miles or so because it need the break in oil to break in the motor properly and let the piston ring sit.

I also heard that don't use sytheatic on the first oil change, just use regular motor oil, that will let the motor settle in.

Then go ahead and use full sytheatic ever after.

I am either worng, and thats very wrong, so please correct me if I am.

Nissan has not indicated that there is any special "breakin" oil in the Z, but, instead, has indicated that there is no need to change it earlier than the normal interval. It just makes a lot of people feel better to get any "break-in trash" out of the oil early.

Some have said to go to synth on the second oil change, however many have gone to it on the first oil change. In reality, it probably doesn't really matter which.

I'd say, either way is OK.

Mobil 1 is OEM oil from the 1st start up from the factory in the Corvette, Porsches, Mercedes-Benz & AMG, Dodge Viper, Mustang Cobra R and Aston Martins.

Its probably ok to drain the oil out of a new Z and put in Mobil 1, but I think I'm gonna do this when I get the Z.

Change to Castrol at 1200 (non synthetic)
Go to MObil 1 at 5000
And Mobil 1 every 5000 miles.

I have a friend who had a low mile 95 300Z. He rarely takes the car above 4000rpm because he is afraid to "damage or wear the engine out". And with his driving habit, he changes with mobil 1 every 2500 miles.. I was like PUHLEEZE... WHY DID YOU BUY THE CAR. GO DRIVE THE CAR FOR GOODNESS SAKE. IMO he just wasted 15,000 bucks in getting that 300Z. When I get the 2004 Z, I'm gonna drive it hard and enjoy the car.
