everybody is having the same problem at the same time (when the coolant gauge is going to hit is normal position for warm) for more or less the same amount of time....

if it was a mechanic or a sensor problem wouldn't be so repeatable OR would be always present... no matter of engine temp, no matter of how long you drive.

this stuff is something that is triggered by the electronic, I'm not saying couldn't be related to any other component failure... but it's something in the logic of the ecu that trigger this behavior

well...
" I'm not saying couldn't be related to any other component failure... but it's something in the logic of the ecu that trigger this behavior"

could be a sensor...
we have seen that if we put heet in the fuel this problem is less present,
for somebody even changing fuel brand helped... but the point that is killing me... how the hell is possible that after 10,20 or 30 seconds... just disapperar... and it's happening only at less than 3K rpm bad exhaust cam timing sensors? bad knock sensor? does anybody have cypher (if it works with the HR engine) and logged ALL DAMN sensors while it happens? in a 2 minutes log should be pretty evident what's acting weird.

Issue maybe resolved!
I have pretty bad sputtering in the mornings, every morning for the first 5 minutes of driving. This last week I did a oil change with Castrol Syntec (usually run Lucas Syn) and so far Mon-Thursday my Z hasn't sputtered once and has been driving pretty smooth. I'll give a heads up if she gives me any trouble but so far I am impressed!

I've tried 3 different oil changes and none of it has phased my issue.

EvillTT, what does your morning commute consist of? Because i know if you get up to cruising speeds fast enough(before the issue starts) it will still occur, but you won't notice it since your not accelerating. For example, If i nail solid green lights to my freeway on the way to work every morning, I'll be cruising at 75MPH on the freeway when it starts, and i wont feel or notice it unless i've got my windows down and i can hear the SLIGHT exhaust sound change.

I'm still wondering if this problem is focused on 6 speed manuals. Doesn't seem like anyone with automatic has the problem which means it could be tranny related.

yep... best oil for everyday and track use (and abuse)
"thin" at startup and still good with the heat.

(from castrol website)
SAE 5W–50:

provides the widest range of protection available. SAE 5W–50 delivers exceptional cold temperature pumpability for rapid oil circulation at start–up and provides a thick oil film for ultimate wear protection. Exceeds all car and light truck manufacturer's warranty requirements for the protection of gasoline, diesel and turbocharged engines where API SM, SL, SJ, SH, CF or CD is recommended. Exceeds European ACEA: A3, B3; Ford WSS–M2C931–A and the engine protection requirements of ILSAC GF–4 for API Certified Gasoline Engine Oils.

^your crazy home slice, thats some thick stuff. Good wear protection, I'll give you that, but you wont be getting max hp and the over needed protection really isn't too necessary as you aren't FI...but Im not hating as its your car and I wouldn't want people telling me what kind of condoms to use

Usually my first 5 minutes of my driving commute consists of street driving and it go's wacky 1-3 gear (usually stop and go or low speed) and I get that exhaust note change (I totally dread that sound!!).

Whats wierd is, I've ran Castrol in the past and it didn't stop the sputtering, but then I switched to Lucas and added a Quart of the oil stabilizer and it got much worse for the next 6K+ miles. I finally switched back(AutoZone was out of Lucas) to Syntec and it totally stopped. Sun-Friday and it hasn't done it once! Which is bizarre cause its a morning ritual for her to act up. I think it may also have to do with the viscosity of the oil....but I may be wrong.

I believe my dealer checked for this awhile back. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try again though. The only thing is if it was a spark issue, it would be constant and non stop.

I was reading this thread, I'm sort of a lurker but I was thinking perhaps the plugs were not gapped equally from factory? I'm not sure if that would cause this problem, but simply pulling a plug and looking wouldn't be good enough, the dealer would need to measure each plug.
