Default So I needed to take my battery out today...

I know I'll probably get flamed out huge for this, but here goes...

Battery's dead, probably due to my alarm system ****ing up again. Anyhow, I went today to yank out the battery and charge in in my apartment with my charger (there are no outlets in the building's parkade).

Now, I've worked on cars before, but I just couldn't believe how ridiculously hard it was to get the battery out of the Z. Maybe I missed something (yes, I checked the manual... useless), but I found I had to, in addition to taking out the battery tie down (as expected), yank out all those stupid plastic connectors holding down that "ring" of plastic, and then I STILL had to use considerable elbow grease to get that thing out of there. Not complicated, but time consuming and a little stupid.

I ended up breaking one (out of 5) of the little plastic connectors... are those universally available? I'd like to get them at a simple hardware store instead of having to pay god knows what the stealerships charge for them, if possible.

Anybody else feel like this when they tried to pull the battery, or maybe something else on the car?

Battery was a walk in the park compared to some things, i wouldn't say it was hard, but yes it was more time consuming then it probably should have to be.

The little black connectors are $1.25/each @ the dealership here in the states. I've had to buy a few for various reasons. You can't find them at the hardware store. I've already tried..

I didnt chk out VOs link, but mainly just get things out of your way, of course, the cover, then the Surround piece, then the right hand cowl cover. The Cowl cover had one bolt in the center that has a cover that snaps out. 10mm. all the rest are the Nissan snaps. A job goes faster if you take the time to get things out of your way.

May sound time consuming, but if you have your tools and have done it once, then it is a 15 minute job and that includes cleaning your terminals and vacuuming the crap in the tray

I suggest you dont attempt to install headers

Don't see why not: that's supposed to be time consuming and irritating. Taking out a battery should be like taking a leak: just pull it out and go.
