Default lifespan of serpentine belt

How many miles / yrs are the factory belts good for? Cant find my manual.

How hard are they to replace, how long for the avg shade tree mechanic?

Thanks!

well you dont have a serpatine belt, you have a timing chain and it never needs replacement. If the chain needs replacement then it is likely you have a larger problem. Your altenator, Ac, Water pump belts need to be changed probably every 30k miles or 2-3 years.

He must be talking about the drive belts. I changed mine at about 42k miles after it started to squeel and can easily be done on your own. I think there is a how to thread somewhere.

The Maintenance sched states 30K miles. Not hard to repalce but a little tricky getting the tension correct.

I replaced mine at 55k (previous owner never did) and the belt had clear signs of wear and mild cracking. The factory spec of replacing at 30k seems to be a good interval.
