Default Slow Starting 03 Z

I searched, and all I could come up with is that it is a bad "sensor" but nobody ever says what sensor it is. When I go out to start my car in the morning or at lunch time at work the car turns over really slow, and acts somewhat as if the battery is dying, but the battery is only 1 year old. The car turns over slow, and I'll hold the key on for a few seconds and it will finally start, and the battery gauge is showing that the battery is good. Anybody have any ideas what the sensor is?

Is it throwing a code? If it isn't i would suspect a fading altenator or some fuel related issue. (clogged line, fuel pump)

That just sounds like a dying battery. Your voltage one cranked will read fine because the alternator is providing the electricity to the system at that point.

The sensor you're referring to is most likely the crank position sensor.

yeah, its not throwing a code...which makes me think its not a code, but I woundn't think its the battery, its an optima red top that is only a year old. I'll have to see if something is drawing on it somehow. I guess it could be the CPS but not likely, since there is no code. I was also thinking it could just be spark plugs. The car has 46,000 miles, and as far as I know the plugs havn't been changed. I've only had the car for about a year.

i highly doubt it is your battery, i mean it's possible that it is faulty, but i run the same battery and it works like a champ. Honestly though, the last time my car had a "slow start" or it took several cranks before it turned over was because of a depleated stock battery. Check your battery terminals make sure they are nice and snug. if your positive one is just a little bit loose it could cause problems.

Maybe you have a defective battery? I still have the original battery from Nov 2002. Car has 36500. It starts on the 1st try all the time.

Definetly sounds like a battery problem. The voltage gauge reads your alt output not your battery. Go get you battery tested. I've seen brand new batteries go bad in a couple months. It just happens.
