Default Switched from Redline to Royal Purple

I just drained out my MTL/MT-90 Redline tranny oil and replaced it with Royal Purple 75W90 Gear Oil. It took 3 1/2qts.

Once I start the car, and move through different gears, I noticed it is much more smoother when going into the gates. I start driving on 1st, then shift to 2nd, very smooth, seems much more smoother than Redline.. The tranny had notchy 2nd gear and sometimes it would grind even with Redline, that's why I switched to Royal Purple. I will drive some more tomorrow and see if there's more improvements. But so far, I am very impressed!

Btw, when I drained out the Redline tranny oil, it was like watery.. Not as thick as Royal Purple. I know that Royal Pruple is rated differently than the Redline..Maybe that's why it's better..

Royal Purple is GL-4 friendly and is also rated as GL-5. It states that it does not contain anything to can hurt the synchro..

Any updates? Are you still convinced that your tranny is smoother with royal purple? I'm curious to hear how it has worked after a bit of driving. Do you still have hard shifts or grinds when engaging 2nd gear?
2nd gear on my tranny has always been notchy, especially when cold. I swithced to redline MT-90, but the problem is still there. It may have improved slightly, but it still a constant nuisance.
How much better is your tranny wiht royal purple?
Thanks!
Mika

still impressed with Royal Purple.. 2nd gear does not grind for me anymore, but I also learn not to speed shift and take it easy on it. The notchy feeling between each gate has been improved, but not disappear.. I think it's just how the tranny was made..

I was convinced when I drained out the Redline MTL/MT-90 mixature.. It was almost like water!

Royal Purple is thicker and better imo.. cost about the same. It works for me!
