Hello,

Today, As I decellerated from 70 mph, my Z lost power (with engine still running) and coasted to a stop. No response from the gas pedal! The "service engine soon" light was on.

I restarted the car, and it returned to normal power. Yeah, I learned later that the gas cap was loose, which possibly caused the service light to come on.

However, would a loose gas cap cause a Z to loose 99% of it's power?

When you "decelerated" did you throw it in nuetral?? What mods do you have?

 

No mods, and auto trans was still in "drive"

 

You've be a member for 4 years and never read about the limp mode?

 

LOL...haven't been on board since 2006. What is LIMP MODE?

 

OBDII will recognise certain problems, and shut down the car to protect the motor from potential damage. Without a code I don't know what the problem is.
