Default They Scratched My Rims

I just got my front tires replaced due to te feathering and they scratched both rims.

The lousy dealership (Carmax of Greenville) couldn't change the tires themselves so they farmed it out to the local Goodyear store. So far they have not been able to align the car successfully either. They need some kind of adaptor that they lost and have not been able to replace!

If anyone else had their rims scratched did the dealership replace the rims or just do some crappy touchup?

My dealer here in North Texas scratched both front rims last week when they demounted/remounted my front tires. They also farmed it out to an outside source. They have replacement tires ready, and said they will "take care of" the scratched rims & will call as soon as they get more info. I haven't heard from them since?

But due to the alloy wheels being slightly dented(mashed) in various places around the lip, i'll be damned if i will accept "repaired" wheels. They better be ordering new wheels, we'll find out by tomorrow. They've had plenty of time to take care of this. I'll let you know what the outcome is.

I had the same problem twice. They got me brand new rims both times. I didn't want them refinished.

follow-up:

I finally agreed to the dealer having an outside source stripping & refinishing my front alloy wheels(18" touring) almost 2 weeks ago. They gave me a rental car for this 2-day period. They agreed if the wheels weren't exactly identical to the rears, they would have them redone or replaced. I gave the benefit-of-the-doubt to the dealer, since they were haggling with the outside tire shop over who's paying. They also stated if the wheels chip, lose their shine etc, they will be covered 100% for refinish or replacement under a separate warranty.

When i went to pick the car up on a sunny day, i thoroughly examined each wheel. And to my surprise they were "exactly" identical(shine/gloss/color/no knicks, abrasions, etc) as to the rear wheels. So i accepted the car, and was on my way. To this day, the wheels look immaculate, and i expect them to remain so for a long time to come.

So to any guys/gals out there, i can't guarantee the same if you accept your damaged wheels to be repaired. Maybe my dealer was hooked up with a good quality wheel repair shop. But i'd at least give them the benefit-of-the-doubt. If you don't like the job done on your wheels, don't accept it. My dealer did me very well on this issue.

Good luck to you all
