Unfortunately, after 4 months of wait, I still can't give an update b/c there was never an attempt to fix the F'n problem.

I had cupping on inner side of front tires. I noticed it around 4K miles... got steadily worse. At 10K miles, Nissan replaced all 4 tires and realigned my car to "new" specifications. At 11K miles, cupping was beginning again on the front tires (same symptom). Now, with 17K miles, the tires are very noisy at low speeds. Dealer acknowledges that there is a problem, and is in contact with Nissan. So far, however, there appears to be no solution.

Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA did the work for me; they even gave me a retal car while my Z was in the shop. Shortly after I got it done, though, I heard that Nissan stopped approving the replacement of tires. I think they realize that it's costing too much, and it doesn't fix the problem. I suspect a countermeasure part will be required.
Good luck!

cupping (i'm not going to use feathering anymore, not accurate) @ 3 to 4K

New front tires (and wheels) and alignment @ ~5K

New tires cupping @ ~7.5K (actually started cupping almost immediately)

Waiting for new tires to wear enough to go ask for new ones again and demand that they fix the problem. Hoping Nissan comes foward with a fix.

I have 7500 miles and i'm currently going through the steps to get my tire feathering issue taken care of. They are kinda giving me a hard time. Also my back tires are almost ready to be changed. I really havent pushed the car to much for them to be going so soon. I would love to get all 4 changed . Is anyone willing to give me their reference # so they can see how your issue was resolved.

Thanks,

I was under the impression that Nissan was swapping out all 4 tires... are they only replacing the fronts?

Nissan is only replacing my front tires. I have already tried Consumer Affairs for the rear. They are worthless.

Default I'm tellin' y'all...

as well as this car handles, if you drive like I do, 5K - 6K miles for a set of tires is excellent. I've had much worse milage on tires on other auto's.

The problem is how these tires are wearing. I had a look at my front tires last night, and they're definitely not round. There's a 1/16" / 3/32" difference in the tread block as you go around the tire.

Feathering on inside fronts. Took it in @ about 6800 miles. Dealer said both fronts and back tow out of spec. Aligned fronts & backs. over 11000 miles now and no more abnormal wear. Apparently it's importand to check the backs too as it can also effect the fronts, so the dealer sais.

Cupping noticed by local dealer at 5000 miles while in for an oil change. The local dealer said they coudn't do anything about it. So, I took it to the dealer I purchased the car from at 8500 miles and they agreed to replace only the fronts and align only the front. Got my car back with a slight shake in the steering wheel above 60mph (that's getting worse). The dealer said it had to do with Bridgestone's manuf. specs. and was not attributable to the alignment or balancing of the wheels. Was told to bring it back after I put a couple thousand miles on them.

oh yeah, they scratched my rims...even though they service Porsches and have the right tire mounting equipment.
