Steering angle sensor?
I have been having this issue for a while, and just choose to hit the VDC off button and drive around with the VDC OFF and SLIP lights on, but I figure I should get it fixed...
Backstory, the car was TT'd and during the removal process, the steering column was unhooked at the couping, and the steering wheel was never locked into place. So, the steering wheel spun freely for the time it was in the shop. The wheel is straight, but could be 360, 720, etc degrees from where it should be.
Is there any way to tell how many times, and in what direction, the wheel needs to be spun to get it back to "0 degrees?"
Thanks!

Ugh, what a pain. The issue other than just the reset is that you need to be sure you have enough slack in your clock spring so that it doesn't get damaged when you do a full rotation of the steering (far left to far right). You can spend a lot of time fiddling with it or just take it to a dealership and tell them to pull the wheel, line up the clock spring and reset it with the CONSULT tool. It shouldn't cost more than $150.
