It took my dealer a while to get the parts too. My dealer said they're on back order. I waited at least a month but eventually got them replaced 2 weeks ago. The clicking noise is gone. Just hope it won't come back any time soon.

What parts are being redesigned?

I've got the same issue here in nor-cal. BTW, it is bone dry here. I don't expect anything is rusted, but havn't checked yet.

The TSB called for the following parts:
- Rear bearing assembly
- Axle outer joint assembly
- Dust boot outer repair kit
I was only told that parts required for the fix was on back order by my dealer. I do not know which part was on back order.

Ditto dumbcurse...the clicking doesn't have anything to do with water or moisture, that was an old post. If you have the clicking, go to your dealer, and tell them there is a TSB about it. Then they are going to have to have a mechanic actually hear it, because it could come from the driver's side, passenger's side, or both, and Nissan isn't (currently) replacing both unless there is noise in both. So go through that fiasco (now that the redesign is done, maybe you should hope both sides click so you don't have to get one side replaced, and then the other side starts clicking in a few miles anyway) because your dealer isn't supposed to order the parts until they hear the clicking in person. Which will then take a week or so (not too long now that Nissan has everything squared away). Then once the clicking is gone maybe you'll get REALLY lucky and have to go back for tire feathering, oily windows, new tranny, key fob, gas tank, interior rattle, gas guage, or something else that will SURELY be equally fun, if not more! J/K I still love my Z!

i had a long chat with a tech at nissan here in Ga, my car was clickin from the rear as well.. doing things to the axles, retorquing **** will have it quit.. BUT ladies and gentlemen.. we found the REAL problem.. turns out like most of you i use the handbrake when i park, my driveway is very steep so i pull high on that S.O.B.. turns out the brake line gets loose and the handbrake components (on rear rotors) start vibrating under load.. all you have to do is tighten your handbrake.. if problem continues all handbrake parts have to be changed

so you guys are saying that this rear clicking sound is the rear handbrake components? were 100% positive its this axle bolt/bearing TSB. theres hundreds of z owners that have already rid of the clicking sound by doing this axle TSB! im just curious what this rear handbrake problem is causing? clicking sounds as well? please describe!

Just got mine out the shop today because of the window motor problem (they replaced the motor and regulator) and my SA gave me a copy of the Service Bulletin which shows the problem is the outer wheel bearing and axel joint assembly, the dust boot has to be replaced when you dissasemble the bearings.

SERVICE BULLETIN NTB04-065
affects all 2003 models and 2004 built before 2-14-04

description part #
Bearing assy, rear 43210-AL505
Axel outer joint assy 39211-73L00
Repair kit, dust boot outer 39241-73L28

Take the car to the dealer and tell them to bring up this TSB, they have to order the parts and fix under warranty
