Default squeaking noise

hey there i recently purchased a 2006 touring 350z automatic transmission, and just weeks after i bought the car it started making a squeaking noise. at first it seemed like the noise was coming from the front but after taking the car to nissan 3 times to have it fixed it now sounds to me the sounds coming from the back of the car. nissan said they lubed the parts they thought might be causing the problem but it didnt help what so ever. i was just wondering what might be the cause of the problem or if anyone else has had this problem with thier Z's.

I lubed my upper suspension arms with aircraft lubricant and it went away in about a day. Try using grease on the moving parts.

Nissan has the responsibility to fix it since it's a brand new car.

more detail description is needed for the squeaking noise. Does the car squeaks only on bumpy roads or all the time? During accelerations or coming to a stop? How noisy or annoying is the squeak? Was it annoying enough to induce suicidal tendency?

the car usually squeaks as soon as i turn it on and put it in reverse. when the car is intitally turned on after sitting over night i hear the noise at every turn and espically on bumps and things like that. as i drive the noise does fade and after some time the noise tends to go away.

i'd leave the car with the tech overnight and have them figure it out. Back in 03 i had to leave my Z with them multiple time to figure out where a clicking/tapping noise was coming from in the rear end. They pinpointed the location after they placed a smaller technician(not the trunk monkey) in the trunk to ride along. It was the left rear suspension strut hitting the strut tower due to poor fitment. They fixed it with a shim.

Wow!!! Thank you Ztalker. I went ahead and installed washers over the bolts and the loud clincking noise is gone. WOOHOOO!! I went an extra step. Went to home depot and got a small roll of this soft plastic sheet that is used under floors. Cost me five bucks. Cut it to shape, a tad bigger, and placed it on the base mount. The extra length wraps around the edges so that the edges don't come into contact with the wheel well. Now I have no more loud clicking over major bumps, and no more light continuous clicking noises. All noises have ceased. I love my car again!!

i bought a roll of cork (gasket material) from a parts store and cut to fit the upper strut flange.
Your most welcome.

Take it to performance nissan and deal with Tim. Everyone knows how mod friendly he is... I need to do the same, my rear bumper has something sliding in it when i take a turn. Sounds like the ball in a spray paint can. I just have been lazy fixing it.

I believe I have this exact same clicking noise in the rear passenger side around the trunk area in my 06 Z.

Do you have some pictures or instructions on how to fix this. Do you just pop off the plastic panel covering the rear strut on the passenger side then just stick in a shim?

I am going to try this fix myself instead of bring my Z to the dealer and have them take apart my Z.

I have a squeak in my 06. I've isolated it to the rear strut brace plastic covering. If i press on it in different places, I can reproduce the sound. This spring I'll probably tear it apart and put in some insulation to help prevent it.

leave the rear strut plastic panel alone. You need to jack the rear end up, remove the rear wheel/tire(the side that's making the noise), unscrew those two bolts to lower the rear strut and shim it with washers or gasket before retightening the bolts.

It sounds easy, do you have pictures to show exactly where the two bolts are and the thickness of the washer you used?

Thanks again.

I have an 06 and it also squeaks from the rear. But I only hear it when I'm driving at slow speed like under 10mph. Is that the same for you? I havent taken mine in yet.

sorry, i don't have any pics. After removing your wheel, look up the wheel well and you'll see the rear strut flange bolted to the top of the wheelwell.
You'll need a socket wrench with a long extension to reach the two nuts. One of the bolts is the source where the knocking noise originates. A washer or a thicker gasket is needed to shim it. The flange has a thin oem gasket but it wasn't thick enough on mine. It takes some muscle to pull the strut down to clear the bolts.
