Thumbs down tranny again?

I just got around to taking my car in because of some chattering noises from the transmission. Well, they told me what I already thought was wrong. My input shaft is messed up. This will be the 3rd trans to go in this car.....

Any particular reason it is a recurring problem on '03s? As in,
when they replace your tranny it should theoretically be with a
newer revision, not another '03 transmission. It seems like there
is something else going on.

Mine is an '03, transmission replaced with an '06 20k miles ago,
and my synchros going into 2nd and 5th are already getting rough.

that sucks, why its such a big issue for 03? I have a 04 with 48K on the odometer, and so far (knock on wood) no problem at all.

I have no clue whats wrong with the 03 but if I didn't have a extended warranty
I would have been forking over about 3k to Nissan. I'm trying to hold out for the 370

A handful of '03s do have tranny problems without a doubt, but the majority of them haven't missed a beat. Coming up on 58k nothing has broke except a window motor. I just think the year gets consumed by a bad repair like a tranny. Same with the rev up oil consumption issues, it is such a huge fix, it bashes the image of that year Z. (atleast on the boards)

Sorry to hear mang, hope things work out for you.

See, I sometimes wonder why we go through this and not file a lemon claim. I did after two trannys and a handful of check engine lights (6 bad sensors??????, c'mon) where no one knew what what was setting it off. That, along with rattling in the trunk (some would say normal) clutch "popping" sound on in the interior, axle clicking in the rear...... Its just too much. So I just said F@#$ it and got an attorney. We will see where it goes, I am asking for a replacement vehicle (08). But back to the thread good luck I know the feeling and hope everything works out.

It's not a "LEMON LAW" type thing. This is a manufacturer mistake not the dealers fault. You'll have to directly sue the manufacturer.
