Default Problems shifting into 5th gear after new clutch install...

So I just installed a brand new Comp Clutch stage 2 clutch kit on my 05 z. Apparently the shop said my flywheel was pretty beat up, and so was my clutch. (Guess the previous owner didn't drive it very well). But after I installed the clutch I noticed that it is pretty difficult to get into 5th gear!!! And 6th gear is a lil difficult too, but not nearly as bad as 5th....

What could this possibly be??? The shifting was PERFECT before I changed the clutch... Very smooth before, and now only 5th and 6th gear are kinda rough to get into. All the other gears are very smooth (1-4). One person said I may have to readjust the shifter plate and another said that my tranny might be going!!!

So if I need to shifter plate readjusted, will that require to pull the tranny again??

Any help guys??? Thanks

I would first double check my bleed---Just crack the bleeder and let it gravity bleed while tapping the Slave. Tighten it, get in the car and pump it through several cycles, Repeat. Is it feeling right ? If so ......

Then Id take it out and burn it off the line a couple of times ...Pop it and Smoke it---Let it cool and take it for a drive

Hey Chris, i'm the one that mentioned the shifter plate (not sure of the technical term). This is the plate that is mounted just underneath your shifter boot, and it's what keeps you from accidentally shifting into reverse without pushing down on the shifter.

Since the tranny was out for a clutch install, they should have readjusted this plate to make sure the shifter makes it to every gear just fine. This is the first thing I would check. When the car is off, try shifting through all of the gears. Do you have the same problem going into 5th and 6th? If so, then it's definitely just this plate. Also, try pushing down on the shifter a bit when shifting to 5th and 6th to see if that helps. If you don't have problems shifting into 5th with the car off, or pushing down doesn't help...then it's probably a bigger issue. Otherwise, this is an easy fix!

Let me know...

Definitely sounds like the shifter plate is out of alignment. Can be readjusted from the top by removing the shifter boot.

Yeah, it happens. Sometimes people don't want to take the time to think things through, and assume the worst. Hey, sometimes I even do that, or simply just give bad advice

So how noisy is it supposed to be when you get a new clutch? I'm kinda havin a hard time adjusting to the new clutch, since it's a LOT more firm than my stock... But it's making a LOUD chattering noise coming from underneath the steering wheel when I roll out slow from 1st gear. Is that normal?
