Default Rattling Coming From Engine

Hey Guys!

Left my Z in the trusted hands of a mate and when i got home from a trip (today) i switched my car on to hear a huge rattling sound coming from the engine - it sounds like something has broken off and it rattling about (it gets worse the higher i rev it, but is very apparent at idle also.

I also noticed that the oil light was on - and my mate is telling me it has been on for days.

Now i told him he could cane the car as much as he liked (Thats what i do, lol), and I'm sure there is a multitude of problems that can arise from thrashing a car with below minimal level of engine oil - any ideas what this sounds like?

Thanks

Check under the car - mine started making a rattling noise and it turned out to be a bad cat. The ceramic element inside the cat convertor started to break apart and was rattling around inside.

Dave might be right ---Hard to say ----We can sit here and toss ideas over the Big Pond all day but you just have to check the fluid levels under your Bonnet and go from there---If the motor is blown it will have to be rebuilt or replaced---There is NO fixing a part
