Default laid to rest

It was about a year ago when when I fell in love with the Z . I bought it two months later, and six months later we had a ugly divorce.why? Because she needed a new tranny ,paint chips and more tranny problems again! Say hello to my new wife.We call her MAXIMA! Good perfomance sedan and handles well all around.Does anybody feel like they are just aggravated enough to get a divorce too! It was not what I expected or wanted! Or maybe I will divorce and remarry my first love once again.

Default Quite satisfied

I just turned over 30,000 miles and no major problems at all. No paint chips because I had the clear bra installed early on. The sub amp replaced and alignment/tire issues have pretty well been taken care of. I have a lot of miles on her and she has not let me down in any way and I do not regret the marriage in any way! Oh, and she is as good looking as when we were first married, maybe even a bit better looking as she matures! Regards, Jim

Jim, exactly what did you do to your car that fixed the cupping? Just new tires and alignment?

I did so many things all at once that it is difficult to pin down which change/mod did what as to the feathering issues.
1) went from stock oem 17" wheel to 18" aftermarket.
2) changed out of oem B-stones to different compound Nitto's.
3) wider to 245/40/18 from 225/50/17 front. (275/40 rear)
4) realigned correctly after dealership misalignment (important!)
5) installed Eibach ProKit. (What a huge ride improvement!) Regards, Jim

Any problems with tire wear due to the Eibachs? After getting mine aligned I'm still -1 deg. over spec. which can be corrected with adjustable bars but the fronts are another issue. My right is within spec but the left is more negative over spec.

I don't mind changing the springs, but I don't see why I should be forced to change to make my car drive normally. After four months, my dealership is still telling me my tires are on backorder. I am being FORCED to return the car based on principle.

Question.
They said that since the tires are worn on the front, I should wait for the back to come in as well (They said they would replace all four). "If I only replace the front, the back would affect the front." I asked them if I could replace the front, align and wait for the back, but he said no. I don't want to force him and later on have to deal with crap about how I didn't listen to them so the warranty is out.

I am on the verge of calling my lawyer to go ahead an send the letter of demand.

P.S. for those of you who vote Few/No problems, please post your miles. Thanks.

Hmmmm, My dealer did the front swap thing first, but (as we all know), that accomplished zilch. Eventually, he replaced the fronts for me. The rears were NEVER mentioned to me and I believe, neither is that being mentioned to the majority of complainants on this issue. My back tires were fine all along. I have since upgraded all my rollers and @ 16,000 miles on the new tires, the backs show no problem whatsoever. Many are NOT being given even the front tires by the dealers so I question your dealers tactics as being just a stall game.
Yes, I agree, the ride was/is not right from the factory. The "pogo" ride is abysmal on the stock springs on many road surfaces. The harder ride is of no matter to me, but the bouncing down the road is intolerable. The Eibach's cured that nicely, plus, I like the appearance that the slight drop gives to the Z. Regards, Jim PS, Oh, I have 30,389 miles.

I have 12,000 miles.
1. Seat click--fixed by me with ZPilot fix.
2. Replaced the stock Bridgestones RE40s but that was because of lack of performance rather than any cupping or other problem.
3. There was only one stretch of hiway that caused the pogo effect. Interesting that now that I have S03 Bridgestones, that section of my commute doesn't produce pogo. I don't understand that. All of my other cars have bounced on that same section except a 1990 Volvo SW with 175,000 miles (probably too sloppy to pogo).
4. Obviously there are differences between individual cars. Clearly something drastic is wrong with some transmissions and some suspension setups because so many have had problems. There also seem to be a high percentage of owners who have had no problems except seat click and slight grease on side windows.

The Z isn't perfect or the best car on the road but it has exceeded my expectations by a long shot.

maybe you gave up too soon on the Z, ZEEDOUT.......from what i've been told, i will soon be receiving the new version 6-speed tranny......this is the same one that's going into the 2004's, so this should do the trick.....but then again, only time will tell

My problems are more with the Nissan Dealership not fixing things right the first time and having to continually bring the car in for the same problems. I also had to fight a bit to get them to replace the wheel they curbed while my car was in for service.

Still love the car...just not happy with the level of service I am recieving from my Nissan dealership.

Default Arizona Dealers

Yup, seems to be a well documented problem here in Arizona
Does the word "Midway" cause you heartburn???? Does me

Default Check your cars before leaving dealership

I always check my car right before leaving the dealership. I look like a idiot, but I will spend 10 min. just walking around and looking at every square inch. When I had leather aftermarket seats installed by the dealer, they jut the door panel taking the seats in and out. Obviously they did not tell me. I found it on my inspection before I left. They can be sneaky. I hate leaving my ride anywhere.

Default Dealership issues

I had/have serious problems w/Midway dealership(s), particularly the Midway (there are several under different names) store on Bell, east of I-17. I am also particular about my car after service and they take great offense if you point out problems that THEY caused while my car was in their care. Regards, Jim

Thanks for the tip. I live in Chandler but ended up having to go to ABC Nissan because they had the only CS Enthusiast manual left in the state.

I was *very* pleased with my buying experience. Of course, time will tell how I'm treated now that they've got my money!

Thanks,
