Default Ticking Fuel Injectors?

I have a ticking noise under the hood. And from my listening around it sounds like its coming from that area were the fuel injectors are, but its hard to tell if its that or coming from the valve cover. Its a tick tick tick when its idle but speeds up when i give it gas. It stays one volumn level. Any ideas before i take it in?
Its an 04 5AT with 79k miles on it

sounds like my buddys mini. He ran the car for 25 min to make sure it wasnt because it was cold. He then took it to the dealer and they told him it was the injectors.

there's a tsb for loud FPR "dampers" on most VQ motors, just ask for information on it if your'e bringing it to a dealer.

I had the same issue on my Altima 3.5 and the dealer told me it was the injectors. It just seemed really loud, I was paranoid it was my valve train or something...

My vr4 had this issue and it was the lifters. Cheap DIY if you can but labor intensive

The Z has pretty loud injector noise. Do a search, you'll see a lot of threads related to the subject.

I have been having the same problem. A not so loud ticking noise at idle and if you give it some gas it ticks a little faster paralleling the RPM but does not get louder it stays at one level. I do have aftermarket injectors though, I have APS injectors if I recall correctly. Would it be the same or noisier than stock injectors?

Glad I found this post.

If it is the injectors, i think i can tackel the job myself, of replacing them as all id have to do is take off the plenum, witch i have done. Id just like to make sure that it is, so im not spending money on something if its not it. Ill need to find out how much oem injectors are. Then should i replace are of them?
When i take my car in for the 78k service ill ask them diagonis that noise and see what they say. But not have them do anything.

why would you replace them? Theres nothing wrong with them.

The dampeners are the disc looking things attached to the fuel rails.

A brand-new Z makes the same noise. I don't understand replacing them.

Just today my Z has began a similar noise.. not quite as loud, but it ticks like that. I've got 40K on an 06 Touring. It'll be going to the dealer on thursday- problem or not, it never ticked before and I'll pay or Nissan will pay partly to make it stop.

Unable to duplicate- said that possib;y what I *heard* was maybe the result of some detonation from a bit of poor qualiy gas or partially clogged injector and nothing to worry about.... they did a fuel system treatment (pressureized cleaner) and tested the gas- all seems well. But, I'll monitor it- if it acts up again, most likly it's just noisy injectors/ on their way out.

Just got back from the dealer. Its not the fuel injector, the noise is coming from inside the valve cover in the back, passanger. Didnt get fix but have an idea now.

sound like lifters to me...especially if it is coming from under the valve covers?
