Default Over revved...should i be worried?

the other day, i had my system kind of loud. I was driving pretty aggressive around the curvy roads of NC late night. I remember shifting to third gear and pressing the gas but it didn't accelerate so when looked down at the rpm, it was pegging the redline. So to my surprise, my car was in neutral and never went in gear. Not sure how long i was holding down the gas..maybe 3-4 seconds hitting the redline/rev limiter. I stopped, checked under my engine and everything seemed fine. It drove normal.

My question is, should everything be ok? I mean, there is a rev limiter but i know it shouldn't just be hitting it for that long. My fault for having the music up. I turned off my stereo on the way home.

Thus the reason for a rev limiter. Imagine what would have happened without it. Your pistons would look like bottle rockets shooting through your hood.

i would go trade her in, you just know the long term effects of hitting the rev limiter which is designed to keep you from fawking up your car.

Sell the car immediately. The motor will explode soon.
