Default Transmission Fluid Change Intervals

I searched and checked this forum but did not see an interval schedule to get the trans and diff fluid changed.

Someone made a comment I read that I wanted to see if this was true or not. They stated the transmission fluid we have is a synthetic lifetime fluid? Is this true? The dealership said they reccommend every 30K miles. The crappy part is they charge 219.00! Just to drain and fill they blame the price on the special fluid the Z uses.

I don't mind paying for the servicebut I wonder if I would be able to find the fluid cheaper myself and just pay for the labor.

As for the diff fluid they didn't say the number of miles between changes but that is will cost around 100 and some change.

What do you guys think about this?

Thanks for the help!

I bought an 04 ZR with 39K miles on it. It now has 41K.

I would recommend checking the owner's manual. With the various driving conditions listed, you will be able to see what applies to your car.

I just changed my tranny and diff fluid - extremely easy to do.

I purchased better quality fluids than the ones Nissan provides. In the end, with the fluid purchase and other tools/parts I needed, it cost under $100.

With different fluid, the change-interval will vary. With different styles of driving, the change-interval will vary.

I would recommend that you do it yourself, save some money, and spend quality time with your Z.

If it is, it calls for 11 qts of Nissan MATIC J ATF. They claim it is a requirment. If that is true or not, Its hard to say. It will tell in some research through reliable manufacturers using that fluid as a crossover

The 219.00 and "special fluid" made me question it. Thats thievery. Motul 300 full synthetic for Diff and Trans will run less than a 100.00 and is a simple DIY job

I like to do mine every 40k , that is with heavy track abuse.

Changing to synthetic, just do it, or wait till 30K for the even number.

I got an 07 and I'm at around 17k miles right now. While my gear / synchros don't really feel bad when shifting into, I will say 2nd has a lil more click feel at times when going from 1-2 in daily driving. Other than that, everything else is good as far as not grinding or feeling too notchy. Should I change my tranny oil or just leave it?

I herd if you change out the tranny oil to synthetic your shifts will be much smoother, and I also herd 07 had a big recall on trannys that's one reason I didn't buy and 07 look into it
