I just recently purchased an '03 Touring and tinted the windows. After 3 days of curing I finally rolled the windows down and it appears that the main (left) guide rail scratched the tint clear down to the window (approx a 5 inch gash). I wanted to be certain so I started taking the door apart and noticed that some of the plastic fasteners (the little red plastic things that snap into the door) that attach the inside panel to the door were missing and there were some broken glass shards at the bottom of the door so apparently the original window was broken and replaced with an aftermarket window. They also tore the weather stripping around the review mirror which I assume is the culprit to wind noise at +75-80 mph on that side.
So it appears that the original owner took it to some auto window place to get the work done and they did a chop up job.
Should I just bite the bullet and take it to a Nissan Service Center (most likely Mossy Nissan here in SD) to get the plastic clips for the door, replace the weather stripping and re-align the guide rail so I can keep the window tinted or is there another option?
Thanks.
