tach bouncing during acceleration
I noticed when I'm at a constant speed then floor it, the tach will bounce up and down for a split second then go up like normal. It's most apparent in second gear, but does it in third gear as well. Here's a link to a video to give you an idea of what I'm talking about (I know the camera is somewhat shakey making it hard to see what I'm talking about, but it's not easy flooring it in second and trying to hold the cam steady).

Is this normal?
Thanks

I can't really tell from the video, but the symptoms you're describing almost sound like clutch slip. If you floor it in higher gears, sometimes the clutch will start to break loose and you'll see the rpms go up but the acceleration will not be in-line with the rpm increase.
The clutch will then start to catch and the rpms will fall a bit to read correctly once it finally bites.

thats not his clutch slipping, as soon as he floors it the tach responds, that response time judging from the video is normal, if you thinks its the clutch slipping, give the 6th gear 20-30mph test
My tach needle bounces - always has. As you are going down the road just give the gas pedal a quick kick and see it bounce,
I believe it is just the way the dial is built - normal.

I jus picked up an 06 Z with 24k miles and I have this same problem. The tach responses fine, but everytime when I clutch it, it bounces up and down a lil. So this is normal? I was gonna take it to the dealer, but I thought I should ask you guys before I go there. Thanks.
