Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning
Without CONSULT-II
NOTE:
It is better to count the time accurately with a clock.
It is impossible to switch the diagnostic mode when an accelerator pedal position sensor circuit has a malfunction.
1. Perform EC-42, "Accelerator Pedal Released Position Learning" .
2. Perform EC-42, "Throttle Valve Closed Position Learning" .
3. Start engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Check that all items listed under the topic PREPARATION (previously mentioned) are in good order.
5. Turn ignition switch OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
7. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds.
a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.
b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 20 seconds until the MIL stops blinking and turned ON.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the MIL turned ON.
10. Start engine and let it idle.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Rev up the engine two or three times and make sure that idle speed and ignition timing are within the specifications.
13. If idle speed and ignition timing are not within the specification, Idle Air Volume Learning will not be carried out successfully. In this case, find the cause of the incident by referring to the DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE below.

I follow the appropriate procedure but my MIL never blinks. What am I doing wrong here?

On the 11th try I got the MIL to blink, followed the final steps and yes perfect idle!!!!
I drove it for the first time in a month, came back and restarted it to make sure it still idled well but it went right back to idle at 1,000 rpm! Argh Why?
So I followed the reset procedure again and successfully reset the idle. This time, I drove around for a good 15 minutes, pausing many times to idle so it'd hopefully remember it.
Get home and restart it and it's right back at 1,000 rpm. Why does the car forget the proper idle every restart?

Great write up. My RPM dropped from 1000 to approx 600 - (not sure what each of the lower dashes on the rev counter indicate) after doing the relearn - you just know when something isn't right!
Just one point - I did the relearn procedure following accelerator and timing points however at the end I made the mistake of turning the ignition back to the off position rather than going from the ON position to starting the car - if you go back to the off position and then start the car the relearn will not have worked! Just a point I thought worth adding.

Old post alive again.
Does anybody know if the ecu forget the calibration if you have a Main battery switch? And the car is completly out of electricity for maybe a month or so.

Hi i have a 2003 350z and I have the same problem the car start well but when it running a few miles it show down and it have serious problem to start, and when it running 40 m/h and I push the gas don't accelerate just go up slowly, I the computer said the cam and crank sensor I replaced and still the same problem i change the fuel pump and nothing happens I check MAF sensor it'll me crazy please any ideas I need help thanks

I bought in auto part and put in the correct place and steel the problem, I change the fuel pump and check the maf sensor and work fine I dont have idea what's happen
