Default what to do about my clutch need help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i have been having a clutch problem that has gotten worse over time. during hot days, hard driving, or stop and go traffic my clutch pedal does not return to the top of its arc when i remove my foot. it just stays lower and lower to the floor. after searching the forum about this i decided to do some upgrades. installed today- JWT clutch and flywheel, SS clutch line. i was so dissapointed on the ride home that the clutch pedal started doing the same thing after about 15 minutes.
my questions are: what do you think is the problem? slave or master? also, as my car is still under warranty and my dealer knows of the problem, should i have them take another look? i had them check it out when the problem first developed, but they could not duplicate it. should i tell them that i just installed the new clutch and SS line? i am thinking i should as that will save them alot of time and money. please throw some advice my way.

i know this has been discussed in a lot of different posts on the forum. i have searched and read them all. i have even posted these details in an older thread. i was hoping to get some quick feedback regarding the dealer on this issue. i am going away on vacation and i am a little nervous about leaving the car with them for a week to look at this clutch problem. i just need some quick advice about how to proceed.

i took it to the dealer and they said it was a known problem and they would take care of it. i am thinking it is the slave. i have to say my dealer is freakin great when it comes to this kind of stuff. they are always on top of it, and take care of me right away. they have replaced so much stuff on my titan with no questions asked. this is my first problem on the Z.

They will probably flush your fluid or try to get some air out of the line.

You can fix this by replacing the clutch fluid with something that is DOT4 rated. I'd also recommend replacing the cheezy rubber clutch line with bobo heatwrap with a stainless steel line.

If you order the part, have your dealer put it in. it will probably take them 15 minutes and it will be less than 100 bucks out of your pocket to take care of the problem permanently.

This is happening to me too.

I have an appointment with the dealer (under warranty).

So that I know exactly, what is the exact issue, so I can tell them?

Your help is appreciated...

woah, yellowlady, are you telling me they replaced your master or slave cylinder? i brought mine in because of some clutch pedal squeaking and told me that it was not covered under the powertrain warranty.

so i am at the beach, and the dealer has the car. when i dropped it off the rep said it was a known problem and they would take care of it. my car has a brand new JWT clutch, flywheel, SS clutch line and motul fluid. i just got an e-mail from the rep saying that my new aftermarket slave is leaking. WTF
i don't have a new aftermarket slave to my knowledge. it certainly was not done when i did the clutch/flywheel/SS line. i will call the rep to see what the hell she is talking about. if the slave is failing then i expect the dealer to cover it under warranty. we shall see.

my car only has 23,000 miles. it is under warranty. my dealer has replaced so much stuff on my titan you would be amazed. no questions asked. i expect them to take care of it, but it makes me a little worried that i am out of town and the rep is telling me my slave is aftermarket.

the dealer is now telling me the problem is with the new SS clutch line. sounds like BS to me. so the new line is leaking thus duplicating the exact same problem that existed before the line was replaced. no way.

sounds like they are going to point the finger at every little thing that could get them out of the most controversal replacement known to the Z.

If the line wasn't tightened down well, it can leak. You'll see fluid all over the brace if you look under the car.

If you have all these aftermarket parts, you should also check the clutch fluid level yourself once you get these issues. If your reservoir is empty, then it's definitely a leak.

if an aftermarket slave is installed they wont cover it under warranty... it is not their part. i did not even know they made aftermarket slave cylinders... thanks for clarifying the warranty issue though.

it is important to bring problems to the attention of the dealer BEFORE replacing any parts yourself so there is record of the problem. now, they have the ability to blame your aftermarket accessories for the faults you are claiming the oem equipment is causing.

if you do a lot of business with this dealership, mention this to the service rep. you can always take your business elsewhere...

so the dealer says the new clutch line was crimped and is leaking. they want me to have this fixed before they address the pedal problem. the car does not have an aftermarket slave. there is a problem with the slave, but the leak needs to be fixed 1st. i am confident it will all be fine. this dealer has always taken care of me. as i mentioned, they have replaced so much stuff on the titan without even batting an eye.

Because they've replaced a lot doesn't mean they wont try to screw you over.

That doesn't really make a ton of sense- sounds more like when they replaced the clutch line that they torqued the connecting fitting so much when trying to take it off that they bent the metal portion of the line above the SS portion.

Whichever, hope it comes out okay.

I have the same issue on a 2006, and the dealer told me today that I need an entire new clutch. $2200.

Is the dealer trying to screw me?

Same problem... looks like I will go back to the dealership... again.

I hate buying cars for this same darn reason. I hate having to waste my time, and my energy fixing all the manufacturers mistakes.

Hopefully I can convince the dealership to work with me... i only have 1k miles left on the bumper to bumper warr, and would like to drive my car for fun rather than back and forth to the dealership.
