Question I NEED SOME MAJOR HELP .. engine trouble

ok, so i have 2004 350z touring daytona blue manual ... last night i was out for a joy ride for at least 30 mintues or better. when i came to the red light it idled fine. the light turned green and i took off like usual in 1st up to approx. 4000 rpm and then tried to shift into 2nd and hit the gas however np response what so ever and the rpms just started to fall. hitting the gas pedal does nothing to it and the rpms continued to fall until the car starts to putter n then it just dies. towed it back to my shop and all that happens is.... you can start it up and all 6 cycl. are working for approx. 5 to 7 seconds and then it drops to 3 cycl. and then starts to putter n shuts off ... hitting the gas pedal to try to get the rpms up doesnt work. it seems to me n others that its a fuel problem but im not sure... i need some help and im hoping someone has some clue what to do or what to look at or had it happen before that i can avoid taking it to the STEALERSHIP AKA DEALERSHIP. I hate them guys and i dont trust umm one bit n i have my own shop but we normal dont do this type of stuff. and advice or help is greatly appreciated ... please let me know ASAP

thanks
shawn

LOL

Good thing it was just the MAF though. I had a similar scare at a meet on the weekend where the car suddenly starting idling erratically and dying. Opened hood and found out that some particularly nasty speedbumps I'd had to go over had jarred my popcharger out of the intake tube (I guess I didn't tighten the stupid clamp enough).
