Default Weird popping sound in rear end...

So I started having a really weird popping sound in my rear end when I take off or come to a quick stop. Sometimes it does it when I take a sharp turn too. It sounds like something bouncing up and hitting the underbody. A friend told me I need to check the differential mounting bushing. He said they are bad to tear. Do you guys have any ideas?

This is a Nissan service bulletin item. I just had mine fixed by the dealer last week. Get it fixed. It will only get worse. You can search for the PDF or I can email it to you if you want. I'd suggest making a printout before you go to the dealer so they don't try to weasel out of fixing it. The service bulletin is for 03-05 cars and fixed under warranty. I had my 30K service and the rear axle fixed in less than a full day. Had it done at Neil Huffman in Louisville if you're ever up that way.

I have a 2003 with 49k miles on it... is this covered under the 30,000 mile full car warranty, or under the 60,000 mile powertrain warranty? Hoping I can get this fixed for free...

I'm not absolutely sure, but considering that it's in the rear axles, I'd think that it's under the powertrain warranty. I'd check with the dealer to be sure. I know the price that was on my repair bill was $125 in case it isn't under your warranty.

not to sound stoopid... but you are saying this sound is only during extreme acceleration or braking... have you checked your "glove box" behind the passengers seat to see if something in there is causing this noise? when i first got the car i kept a couple of moderately heavy metal objects in there and i was experiencing the same symptoms. i took them out and voila! noises gone lol. now i use some traction matting to prevent this from happening.

just a thought...

Yeps, also having this same issue. It is the rear axle clicking TSB. Bring it to your dealership, it should be covered under the 60K 5 years powertrain. I am out of the warranty so I would have to pay if I was to bring it in.
