Mate i had this problem. Get under the car and remove the rubber boot arounf the clutch fork. Remove the slave cylinder (no need to bleed it) if you can pull the clutch fork towards you and move it around alot then the pivot is broke/ OR the spring clip may have come of the pivot. You can look inside the gearbox case with a light and see.

Hope you get this fixed as it pissed me off too! lol..

if your pivot ball is not broken(you said you replaced it) and everything was fine before the i highly doubt you have a defective slave/master.

when i installed mine i had the same problem. i bled for hours with no luck. i seriously thought my **** was ****ed. so i was sitting in the car very distrot and just kept pumping the pedal--voila after about 2000000 pumps the pedal got hard and everything started working great.

so pump that pedal, if it doesn't come up then pull it up then pump it.

That seems crazy to have to pump it that many times to make it work! I've tried everything else, I guess it won't hurt anything but my leg...lol! I'll let everyone know if it solves this strange problem! Thanks for the tips guys!

I didn't read the whole thread. but going to a speed shop that specializes in 350Z's might be beneficial in this situation. Sometimes you have to suck it up and pay to play.

No such luck! I pumped it like 500 times no pressure (feel) difference than before. I guess it's going to the shop! I'll let everyone know when I get the diagnosis!

It's finally fixed and I am pissed at myself for me and my friend not realizing that it was the THROWOUT BEARING not being re-installed right. When we installed it must have been on the wrong side of the fork, but the clip that held it on snapped right in place but I guess the tabs of the cast piece that the bearing is pressed onto should have been on the other side of the fork. You would think if it slides smoothly back and forth (like it did) that it's on right but apparently not. You would think they would design the cast piece that held the throwout bearing to fit just like a puzzle on the clutch fork...either it fits or it doesn't, that way there is no other way to install it that would make you think it's on right! Oh well, there just went about $250 to do all the stuff that had been done twice(removal and install)! It just makes me sick to think about all the time and effort put into working on it just to throw $250 dollars down the drain for something so small! I hope this thread will help anyone else who comes across this same problem.

oh yeah try having a 350Z ONLY shop install a clutch/flywheel set up and i could not get it into 1st ever without mashing it into gear or coming to a stop light or stop and having to turn the car off just to down shift and they had my car for 3 day to find out they put the shift boot backwards. the arrow was facing the wrong way only because they took another Z apart. i never went back again EVER!!!!

I am having trouble with my clutch returning to the top and I am poping it up with my foot. I will have to take a look into this through out bearing.

Default Chromoly Clutch "Fork" Pivot Ball

I honestly believe that it is the cause of all the problems. I wouldn't be surprised if it was bad because the jwt flywheel that I got from this person, had over half of the holes to mount the pressure plate to the flywheel itself, were completely stripped out. If I could only remember the member's name!!!
I'll keep ya updated after I re-install the tranny and hopefully this will fix everything!!!

Where did you purchase a chromoly clutch "fork" pivot ball?

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!

S#1t, I just completed my clutch replacement, put everything back and ran into the same clutch problem. I am going to have to remove everything and take out the transmission again. Darn it.

Today was the second day I worked on this project and was hoping to be done. Hopefully I'll be able to finish it tomorrow.

Thanks for the info nonetheless.
