I have this ticking nosie coming from my motor at idle. The ticking nosie gets faster as I rev the motor. Does anyone know what is causing the noise and how to get rid of it. Also my motor is stock no mods. Thanks.

the loud ticking you mainly hear in that vid are the injectors. they are loud on our cars. the background noise that is a bit deeper sounds like the same sound i have on my car. im almost lead to believe that its a normal VQ sound. ive had it looked at by alot of people and they said it doesnt sound like anything really wrong with the engine. nissan tech told me it was an oil filter. i wasnt using a nissan oil filter and the lifter became unprimed. switched to a K&N filter and the sound is still there even though the KN has a check valve like the nissan filter. ive run my car now for 3000miles and it doesnt run any different then the day i bought it. its just a sound on my car.

 

i was also told it was normal by 2 nissan techs so..............just enjoying the Z for what it is.

 

It seems our beaZts have more than their share of rattles, ticks/clicks, squeaks & other noises. BUT, the bottomline is,
they're reliable cars! Engine, cooling system, AT (not so the MT, though), body integrity, etc., are g-r-e-a-t in our Zs, so, relax & enjoy yours...I'M HAVING A BLAST WITH MINE!!!
