My OE pump is shot, would a Walbro GSS342 be a bad idea for my car?

They're so cheap compared to the OE's price tag.

I have no FI, just intake and exhaust mods. Thanks!

 

So, would someone who has REAL experience in this PLEASE chime in?

The dealership says that the prolonged use of a high pressure fuel pump could damage my fuel pressure regulator. Also that this might damage other engine components downstream.

The guy selling the fuel pump says it's all good in the hood and that I have nothing to worry about.

A weekend warrior mechincally inclined friend of mine says that he doubts the FPR would be damaged and that the excess fuel would be returned to the tank. Also that the FPR would not be damaged/hurt by the Walbro.

I would just like some advice/help.

I've posted two pretty good threads asking for help and haven't received a word. Maybe I'm in the wrong section of the forum?

I am new Z owner, but have had several other cars that I have put 255 walbros in without problems (both NA and FI). I would not be worried about driveability issues as the factory ecu should compensate for the change and still try to maintain a 14.7:1 a/f ratio at idle and light engine loads.

Again, I haven't done it on a Z, but have done this on Mitsubishis, Dodges, and Subarus, never with any negative side effects. The way it was explained to me is that the high flow fuel pump will not drown the engine with extra fuel, but will have the capacity to flow more fuel if the ecu asks for it instead of the engine leaning out.

 

I'm running the walboro 255 lph with no problems .I have had the turbo off for four months now.
