Default my dte level is malfunctioning

has anyone seen this? it will either drop really slowly, like 1 mile for every 10. or sometimes even go up 5-10 miles.

well its probably because I think this is calculated from the avg mpg that you're getting, so if you've been hot rodding about town it should give you a number based on lets say a 21mpg for example. but then if you get on the highway and drive a decent distance your mpg will go up to the mid twenties and your dte will rise based upon that.

atleast thats my thought

+1 to comment above.... also if you're standing on a hill it iwll miscalculate how much gas you have.....dte is not always ocrrect and you shouldnt relly on it... i was driving from gf's house once and it said 13 miles left so i was goin straight ot gas stationa nd it sudenly changed to -- -- -- which means below 0!!! lol luckily i made it to the station

Distance To Empty is based on some sort algorithm using fuel level and average MPG. It can easily be fooled. An example is driving downhill.
