Oil Dip Stick Question
hey everyone , my oil gauge has been reading low lately and i have been adding oil and the gauge boosts up but i dont think i need oil ... the dip stick on these cars are so long and rub up against the sides that i can never tell how much is really in there ... my car is no leaking oil .. where could the oil be going too if it is in fact losing oil ? and does anyone have any recommendations on the dip stick problem? thanks

Note that your "oil gauge" is not an oil LEVEL gauge but on oil PRESSURE gauge.
At this point it would probably be a really good idea to get some help checking the level, since you've been adding oil. It's entirely possible that you've added quite a bit too much. I realize that the dipstick on the DE's is a PITA....

As blastoff added thats a oil pressure guage not a oil level guage. Too much oil could be a bad thing also. Check you car when its cold and make sure you didnt add entirly too much If you did your going to have to drain some. I am not sure if these cars have a oil blow off by te airfilters like a lot of my vehicles have.

The disptick on the earlier models (I have no idea bout the HR).... is the biggest mickey mouse contraption I have ever seen. It is seriously flawed. The person who designed it needs to find a new occupation. Tons of people on this forum have complained about it.
I do all of my oil changes myself. The last time I was getting ready for the track, I checked the oil. It showed I was way low and I had performed a change like 700 miles before! I should have known better. I added a little oil and checked it again. No budge. I added a considerable amount more. No budge. I turned the dipstick over to the backside and it showed way over filled. GOD DAMNIT! I drained the whole thing and refilled with a measured amount. It's the only way I seem to be able to reliably know how much oil is in the car.
Do not rely on the dip stick, I sure as hell don't. Change your oil frequently and hope for the best.
