I have reset is several times per the procedure posted here. It is a 04 ZR and out of warranty. The first time I reset it it stayed off for a month or so. Last couple times was only a couple weeks. This time it only lasted a day before it started blinking again. Has anyone with a similar problem ever taken theirs in to the stealership to diagnose? I'm starting to wonder if there is actually something wrong with my airbags and they won't go off if I really need them!

 

Just an FYI for anyone who's airbag light comes on frequently and have been re-setting it (aside from the 07/08 recall); airbag problems are covered under the 50/50 Powertrain warranty. After I discovered this I took my 2004 ZR in to the dealership to be diagnosed. It was the driver's seat airbag module and it was replaced under warranty.

So if you are having this issue don't wait too long and get it in to the dealership for diagnosis. The airbag module is a pretty pricey part. And don't let them tell you it's not covered. I'm sure it will come as no surprise that the service manager tried to tell me it wasn't covered--I had to insist he look it up. Sure enough...covered under Powertrain Warranty .

 

My z is an 04 and this started happening recently....how long is the powertrain warranty?

 

mine's an 05 and it also just started this about a week ago....what gives?

 

Powertrain warranty on my 2004 is 5 years or 50K miles. Not sure about the 05's...

I told the service manager this seemed to be a common problem with the Z's and he said it's a common problem on all cars. I think that's BS as I've never had an airbag light come on in any other vehicle I've owned before (this is my first Nissan).

 

mannn.. I have a '04 ZR with 50,900 and it just came on last week!!!!!!!!! i have an appointment with nissan tomorrow!
