Default help asap! whats wrong with my Z?

2003 350z

bought it with 9k miles, clean history, runs perfect...barely drive it...it only has 19k miles now...

i just moved my car around the block...has this crazy creeking noise when i drive forward, like a grinding noise. The rpm needle doesn't want to rest at 0 at idle. Instead, it is fluctuating up and down slightly around 1k rpm. When I rev it, it hits 1k and does a quick jump to about 1.5k

wtf? i am so scared and pissed off. The car was in service about 3 weeks ago...car turned off, they did all computer tests and said nothing is wrong with it.

please help asap

Throttle body or MAF either unplugged or bad would be my bets.

do u have cai? MAF could've got messed up when u installed it or somthing. dat might b why ur rev limiter is goin up n down once in awhile and engine turning off. if u have cai the sensor has to pick up the different amount of air it takes in. but for grinding noise idk..

ok I will def. try these suggestions. The MAF looks connected and all, but I honestly don't know much about these cars.

THe grinding was caused by a big stick underneath the car...so that is good.

The rpm needle is where it shoulds be, just seems jumpy and quick to rev up..so when i rev to 2.5k or so...when it falls it wants to jump half way back up there or something...but it still purrs like a kitten.

one more thing this morning, there is whitish smoke coming from the exhaust pipes and you can't see your breath today. Here in chicago; however, we had record setting rains but I don't remember driving through any puddles lately. thx

so do you have cold air intake? if you do, that's definately the symptom of cai haha. i installed cold air for mine and i didnt unplug the battery so my engine turned off on me once. but that's not too much of a big deal. i reset it by unplugging for like a day and left it in the garage and next morning i started the car and ever since no prob. i had same problem so its not big deal at all. so do u have cai?

like some people who install cai the wrong way have their engine turn off coming off high way putting gear in neutral. if that happens everytime, THEN you should get that checked by someone...

I had a similar problem & found out that I had to replace my fuel pump. Did they check this when you got it serviced?

How do you know it's your fuel pump causing the problems?
