Default Engine Ticking Loud at the Stealership in Smithtown!

Well after a month of trying to convince the dealer I'm not crazy. They finally went out for a test drive with me only to hear the noise I kept bitching about!

My engine is ticking for the last month or so. It's getting louder. It's especially loud when driving and letting off the gas you can hear it knocking. Sounds like a lifer or vavles are not rite. Tech said it might be a bad VTC. Who knows....

Anyhow she is at the shop now. Don't you just love how they love to throw in the disclaimer if it is found to not be under warranty you will be liable the 95 diagnostic fee. Hey Bud the Valves are ticking I would think that's under drive train warranty. That's my vent, and I really need a new service dept cause Smith town Nissan has horrible customer service.

Thanks, it should be under warranty the car doesnt have any aftermarket stuff other then a JWT intake. I have the gold extended warranty. I just hate how they can be such dicks about it.

I live out in Selden. I have been disappointed with the service that Smithtown Nissan provides. They seem to always blame things on the customer instead of just buckling up and sticking to there warranty. I was debating getting the new Z, however there Service has drawn me away from Nissan in General. I love my Z, and love the Z line I just can't do business with shady dealerships like that.

Anybody have a shop they would recommend on the Island?

Finally spoke with a Service Manager. New Short Block has to be ordered. Waiting on approval from Nissan to order. Not sure how long this will take?!

Yeah they made good on there warranty. Although it was a process to go thru they definetly came thru at the end.

It's nice to just hear your engine exhaust note again. No more rattles in the engine bay and no more engine noise, all I hear is the sound of my exhaust and my drivetrain. (Throw Out Bearins is a lil louder then before).

Just to sum it up. New short block lifters some solenoids and gaskets!

Well the Car is back at Smithtown Nissan after leaving me on foot this morning. The noise that the Service guy said was normal got so loud that it eventually just clunked really loud and the motor cut off, now she starts, stalls then shuts rite off.

In all honesty I love the Z, but I hate Nissan Service. I'm think I'm calling it quits. Time to shop for a new vehicle.

All issues seem to have been resolved. Throw out bearing was replaced, as well as MAF Sensor. Car is so quite and idle so nice now.

Default but what was all the ticking?!

i still don't get what was wrong that was causing the ticking? did all that really warrant a new long block? what about us dudes that don't have the warranty? we are screwd when that happens to us... my 4 touring ed started making the ticking noise now that it's freezing out and i have no idea what it is! help?
