Default Car idles with abnormal popping sound

Engine is stock with only intake and exhaust mod.

Car idles with popping sound every <10sec interval. Anyone experienced this before?

Tried changing the

Spark plugs
engine oil
Using OBD Scanner to reset computer.

problem persist. Please help, what could be the problem?

I'd have the dealer take a look, or an independant service place at this point. Such issues can be very difficult to diagnose.

Most likely area is something ignition related (coils), but other possible areas - intake leaks/crack in plenum(s), dirty or failing MAF, among other things

Weird. I've caught my car doing that a few times.

It never does it unless I've been driving it hard for a little bit.

I think it may be a tuning issue. I know my car definitely seems a little rich. Especially since I threw on the test pipes.

Engine/intake/exhaust has been same for the past 2-3 mths. Problem started 1 month ago.

I am using Apexi Open Pod for the past 8 months without maint for the Open Pod as the specs says no maint needed.

I am thinking of putting back the stock airbox for troubleshooting.

I am suspecting that it could be Air Fuel Ratio issue, i guess my car is running a little rich as well, but this popping sound only surface about 1 month ago and no mod to the car for the past 2-3 mths.

I agree, I started off with the simplest

engine oil
spark plug
ECU reset

Will troubleshoot the Apexi open pod and Plenum when I have time.

I am so paranoid now whenever i floor the pedal something keeps telling me that engine will blown. SAD.

Does your car do this pretty consistently?

I've only noticed mine doing it a few times, and it's always been after I have been driving it for quite a while.

If I just go start the car up and let it sit there, it won't do it.

When I go home I'm going to check a few things on my car. One is all of the clamps on the intake, and two, is the MAF sensor to see if it's dirty.

Yes, it does it everytime, all the time during idling. Of course, I can't tell if its doing it any rpm above idling.

Hmmm, the fact that it's just starting to show up for everyone should make it easier to pinpoint the cause.

The main thing that has changed during the last month or so, is the weather. It has been getting cooler.

That, again, tends to point toward a tuning issue if the colder air is the cause for this.

Anyone have Cipher so that they can do some datalogging?

Oops, didn't notice you were in the UK.

I guess that also rules out Daylight Savings time and the Presidential Election....

Hmmm, anyone else got any ideas?

I have an 06 and its been doing this for the past year or so. Only after I put the injen intake and borla exhaust though and it doesnt happen every 10 sec. It hapeens maybe every 20-25 sec. However it only does this on cold start ups and if I leave it to idle for long periods of time (20-30 min)

would not gapping sparkplugs properly be the issue?
