can use a c clamp if need be...just put the old pad in. and use the clamp to squeeze the piston back in...assuming this is non brembo
here's quick way
toss the old pads back in. put the caliper back on..no need to bolt it up...but it works either way.
use a large flat head screwdriver to compress the piston back in...DO NOT push directly on the piston...only on pads.
below is example of c clamp

you shouldn't have to crank down very hard on it to get the piston pushed back in...so if you do have to exert much force this is a problem. sometimes it can help to remove the MC cap...but lay it back in place...just not latching (I've seen the fluid spray engine bays down when cap is left off.)
also make sure you don't overflow the brake MC reservoir when pushing the calipers back.
another good idea is to do one side at a time...prevents confusions/mistakes.

If you remove the cap from the fluid reservoir, wrap a towel around the reseviour.
Its always a good idea to work with a friend who can observe the fluid level while you are compressing the calliper piston.
