Default Suggestions for Keeping Battery Charged ...

Hello,

I tend to have to lock up my 350z for the winter; are there any suggestions and/or best practices for keeping the battery in tip top shape? I may take it out now and again, but it could be a few weeks inbetween outings and it's killing my battery to have to jump it every time I want to take it for a spin. Something with a refresh/recycle option perhaps?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get a Deltran Battery Tender. Excellent product. I have used one for years and it solved my battery problems. Amazon.com has the Junior Model on sale for $24.04 right now.

What he said. Unlike most battery chargers which have a "trickle charge" feature, the BT has a "maintenance" mode. It will quite emphatically NOT cook your battery; you can leave it on as long as you wish without fear. I have experienced amazing longevity from motorcycle batteries using the Tender.

Thanks! Do I want to look at the Junior or the Plus? It's a Stinger Red Cap Battery, not Stock.

Always take your negative cable off first. Less chance of voltage spike.

IIRC, the difference between the Jr and the + is the rate of charge when the battery is slightly discharged. I think the Jr will charge at .75A, and the + at 1.25A. Both go to a maintenance charge mode of 10 milliamps once the battery is fully charged.

I'd save the $16 and get the Jr, or get TWO Jrs... one for the motorcycle, perhaps?

Ya.. Get a battery tender. I hooked one up to my Z when I was deployed for 8 month. When I got home, the Z fired up with right away.
