rattling/clunking in rear?

I have it on my '06 ZR. Ugggg!
Let me ask this - does it sort-of go away in warm/hot weather? For me - the top goes down - unsure if that is the reason I generally don't hear it. But - I swear I do not hear it when the temps go @70+...
Edit: I also have stock suspension. And 2 dealers have looked at it - tightened everything in the suspension - no change. I also 'feel' like it comes from the passenger side bumps more than drivers side or 'both'...

As for temp., I don't know yet because it just started a few weeks ago, but the weather was already cold for several weeks before it started. And it never happened last winter...
If I can just get a day when the weather's not bad and I'm not busy, I'll try to investigate more. It's driving me nuts.

Same problem in my 07. Service manager and mechanic checked it and said it was right rear shock bracket bushing tube and seal had excessive play. They replaced - Rod Connecting, Bush rear shock, bracket assy-sh, tube rr mounting, seal-shock abso and nut. All under warranty and the clunk/rattle or whatever you name it was gone and things are quiet as can be now except for usual exhaust noises and stuff. I'll post the part numbers from the work order if you like.

same problem on my 03..ripped the trunk apart 10 times..had a friend drive me under the strut and its coming directly from the passenger side under the strut bar...i insulate the whole trunk to lower the noise while i order some stance 1 piece coilovers..that way the rear spring and other crap will be useless...well see how it goes

Wow i can't believe there is this many Z owners with this problem. Im also having this "crackling/buzzing" noise from what i believe is the rear strut bar. Then i installed my buddyclub coilovers and im getting some "clunks/thuds" from the right rear. I removed it retightened everything and it's still there?

Hey guys,
I have been follwing this forum for a long time and i am freakin going nuts.
I have a 2007 350z and this "rattle" started not to long ago. It only happens when i hit bumps or dips. It is defenantly coming from the back. Thought it was the Hatch.
I took out everything from the back except the panneling and had 2 people climb back there at 2 dfferent times and they both said it was comming from the outside.
My Rattle is kinda loud but very noticeable and only over bumps! Help please!
I have taken it to the Dealership like 4 times and nothing!
Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quick Note: A rattle some of you may have is next to the Latch for the Hatch is the Electronic Contoller that may give you that ticking rattle sound.
Remove the Panel where the Latch is to get to it. It's easy.

fyi,
I took mine to Great Neck Nissan for the noise. The tech agreed that he heard something (though the stretch of road we drove on one uncommonly smooth for Queens! I hear it a lot more most days). He doesn't seem to know what's causing it. He seems to think it might be the body/hatch, but I still think it's more likely a suspension issue. I wanted to have them look at it before I showed them this thread.
I told him about the thread and he agreed to read it if I bring it to him, which I will this week. He's already ordered a new "strut" for the passenger side rear, but I want him to see this thread and all the parts listed.

My rattling happens in the rear when I am around 1800 rpm range. I checked this by applying my brakes and pushing the throttle. A co-worker of mine confirmed that the rattling or humming sound is coming from the exhaust. Must be the rubber wearing out.

I have an 04 and the rattle/clunking have been there for over 4 years 
I thought originally it my TEIN coils so I changed to another set - still the same problem. I have taken the car to various dealers and mechanics but no solution. The noise is not loud but it drives me crazy!

i just fixed a rattling noise. it sounded to me as if it was coming from the hatch but infact it was coming from under the car. there is a emergency brake line that runs through the drive shaft that if gets unseated would hit the driveshaft.. the sound was a "plastic rattle noise". If you crawl under the car, you can check to see if this is the problem. it was a free fix and it saved my sanity.
