I totally know how you feel! LOL

On another note: upon driving to put my car away for the winter, I hit a pretty bad pothole, every bump after that I had a clunking in the rear (passenger side). I was so sick about it I put the car away and haven't gone to see it yet. Lol!

Regardless, I did have a similar clunk in the rear after I did my suspension, though it went away after a few weeks. I'm wondering if it's my endlinks or possibly the axle nut (which tends to come loose from time to time and cause a clunking)?! Ugh... I think I'll go buy new wheels now to make myself feel better.

Woohoo! After living with the noise, I was able to finally once and for all fix the problem. Can't believe how quiet the Z is now! I think my ears are still listening for the noise that is no longer there! Hope this will help everyone who is still searching for a solution.

i had a thump noise coming from the rear of my car, and it turned out to be the control arms. changed both of them out and havent had a problem since. i didnt have a great deal of miles at the time maybe 20k. now i have 190k and they still are good. i think that what they are. its the small arm with a bushing on either end. but it was pretty irritating.

I have the same issue with my 07.

Only when i go over pot holes and pretty major bumps.

So it is a hatch problem?? I thought it would have to do something with the suspension.

PLUS i have the rear axle click.... And im getting pretty furious with the car.

Ive only had it 3 months.

Temps drop, noise comes back. I'm just ignoring it now. and in reply to question a few posts up, no, it is not the hatch.

I did this fix and it worked 100%
https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...unk-noise.html.
I advise you all try this before changing any major part of the suspension and spend a great deal of money. It is really easy, no more than half an hour at any repair shop.

I have a little noise. But for me, it sounds like it is the hatch. All my shocks have been replaced with the blue tokico blue shocks. Thank God that's not the problem. The write up where the guy fixed his rattle due to suspension sounded horrible.

If you guys know its nothing to do with suspension and think its just your hatch, try this out. Not sure if this has been posted or not.

But it's nothing wrong with the suspension parts. Shocks are fine, no problem with that. It's just a minor design issue, the whole on one side of the shock fork is larger (from fabric) than the bolt going in. So even if the shock is replaced with a brand new one the issue remains and will come back in time.

Could one of you guys who is a mechanic figure out what size bolt would be the right replacement to properly fit the strut fork? That would be interesting

Finding a thicker bolt is useless because it wouldn't pas through the arm hole. Only the shock's hole is bigger, in the arm it fits tightly.
Only solution would be to manufacture a bolt with a thicker part only on the last 5mm where it enters in the shock.

So the shock/strut has two openings right in the "fork." You are saying one side is smaller and one is larger. The bolt will wiggle on the larger side. A wider bolt would not fit through the second side.

Is that right?
