Default tranny fluid change

I have an 06 auto and have 31k miles now. The tranny fluid is due for a change, and im kinda thinking which to get drain/refill OR flush. Is flush really that necessary, and does AT have filter in it? if not then i'll probably just drain/refill, i'll buy Nissan J-matic fluids and have my trusted mechanic change it.

Yes get the flush, a drain and refill only gets about half the fluid, if that.
You will need 14 qts to do a total flush. Why do anything half ***.

FSM says 11 qts. He's probably including the extra three for flushing and throw away.

In my opinion there is no need to flush. I have seen flushes cause more problems than they have ever solved. Personaly if it was my car I would drain and refill (only going to get about 4 qts out of the pan when you drain it) every 30k and you will be just fine.

^^ Totally agree. Unless you've had problems with the trans and it NEEDS a flush, there's no point in doing it until the 60K-75K range. That's why the Maintenance book only specifies Inspection with no mention of replacement.
