is it possible to fix a bent forged rim?
the other day i drove to six flags and right before the exit on the freeway i hit a huge f'n pothole. didnt think much of it cuz i have forged wheels but yesterday i was washin my car and it definatley dented the wheel. does anybody know if wheel shops have any certain procedures to fix this?
Some performance wheel shops can fix wheels regardless of the original processing methodology (cast or forged), however, the wheel will always have that weak spot acting as a stress concentrator. The risk really depends on the amount of damage.
BTW, if your wheel is bent, you may have damaged the steel plys in the sidewall of the tire, too. See any bubbles there?
That's why I love me some sidewall. . .
