Default Tranny drain bolt

So i was changing my tranny and dif fluid the other day and when i was all done and everything was buttoned up i realized that i forgot to put the metal gasket on the tranny drain bolt. Was just wondering if this was bad. Like is the gasket meant for leaking or just so u dont overtighten and strip the bolts??

It acts like a gasket. I'm really not sure if it'll leak or not. I'd keep an eye on it...
