Angry Degreasing new Nissan rotors

I got all new rotors from Courtesy Nissan to put on my '03 350Z. They come packed in cosmoline or something to keep them from rusting. I tried scrubbing them in dish washing detergent but it didn't remove it even after two attempts with a scotchbrite pad. So I got out my Gunk Carb & parts cleaner & poured it into a round plastic oil drain pan. The rotors just fit & came out clean as a whistle. Only problem is the Gunk also took off the black paint on the centers. I only did one & stopped when the paint came off.

So what can I use to degrease the rotors that won't take off the paint? I didn't want to use spray brake cleaner because there is a LOT of cosmoline on these rotors & I figured it might take more than a can per rotor. Also, what can I use to repaint the centers, some high temp exhaust paint?

I would try razor blade to take off excess and then id pop them on and just drive up and down the street and let the pads finish it off but drive slow and do one side at a time.

That would be like putting grease all over your brakes. Surely it has to ALL come off before using the brakes.

Stoptech rotors are shipped with a similar chemical coating. I was able to get most of it off with a bucket of soap and scotchbrite pad. The rest burns off during the bedding process...

No, the friction and heat will remove the grease. But like i said, do one side, front and back, once that has been done, do the other side.
