Default wheel noise

There is a kind of thumping noise coming from the passenger side rear wheel. Does anyone know what could be causing this. I have read some of the threads about owners having problems with the axle needing to be greased. Could it just be that the wheel is off balance? I would appreciate any input. Thanks, James

Make sure your lug nuts on that wheel are tightened (80ft lbs)

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. But I suddenly out of no were and I mean no were have this thumping like noise that only goes away when I accelerate or brake. It sounds like the wheel is gonna come rite off. When doing my brakes 1 of my rims for the rear balance weights fell off. I doubt that has anything to do with it as it started late last night and I did my brakes last week.

i think i have the same problem but on the driver's side. It makes a similar sound to when you don't fully close your door and it rattles. it happened after i got an oil/diff/clutch change. i'm goin to check on my car this weekend and let you know if i find the problem.

I helped my buddy put pads on his truck last month. I let him put the tires back on thinking he knew how to tq it down properly. He called me the next day saying "dude, we didnt tighten my tire front left tire down!" I reminded him that we definatly tightened the bolts. Well, since he didnt tq them down properly, the wheel was ever so slightly tilted when tightened...like so... /. The wheel started making a thumping sound as it went /\/\/\/\/\/\ down the road. It got worse so he pulled over. The wheel had almost worked itself off by then!!

If you changed your brakes recently, try re-mounting the tire.

^whitenoiz you hit it on the money only I didnt loosen them. I left my car at my mothers while i went to a dinner convention in the city. Came back to pick up my car at 11pm. Thats when I noticed the noise. I left the car on her front lawn and from what I gather someone loosened my nuts in attempt to come back and steal my wheels. To think I drove on the highway all the way to work this morning. Took my key lock and lo and behold my lugs were all loose on 1 rim.

Glad you didnt lose the tire!!! I remember a thread here one time where someone took off the lugs on someones front tire of their Z (pissed off x or something) and the tire came off. Major, major damage.
Glad you caught it man!

Check your rear strut to see if it's still functional. Also make sure the nuts on your top-hat haven't turned loose. Best of luck
