what is that pump called that you stick into the dipstick area that pumps the oil out? I know someone recommended one on here but forgot the name. any help would be great. Im checking online but dont trust them. any help would be great if you know what it is.

 

What pump? Why do you need a pump? Cant you just drain the oil?

 

You talking about a siphon? Why would you need that?

yes similar to a siphon except it has a pump. its a device that pumps oil out without removing the drain bolt from underneath. it prevents a huge mess when draining oil. Instead of draining through the bolt its drained through the dipstick. i forget what its called. i know one of you guys know what im talking about because i remember seeing it here.

 

You're still going to have to go down there and change the filter anyways...

 

true but it takes alot of the mess out when draining the oil, the filters a piece of cake.

 

Latex gloves. Use em if you don't want to get messy.

I have one and use it but not for oil changes. For oil changes, I am looking into
relocating the oil filter to simplify changing it, I change mine every 1500.

I have one I use on my I/O boat called a 'Topsider'. You can buy it at Overtons.com

You won't be able to remove all the oil, though.

It's a necessity for a boat and handy for certain other things but it's worth the extra effort to drain everything using the drain plug.
