i hearded mixed reviews about the pump... that it dosnt get all the stuff at the bottom out~~~

hey is there a easier way to get the filter off without a mess??

i usually take the plastic underbody cover off when i do the oil change which is a PITA!

impossible to get the filter off without taking that out.. and making a mess~

any suggestions?

This is why I am going to relocate the filter.

I did my oil change today and experimented a bit...using the Mityvac that I have which is a manual pump/extractor, I was able to get all but 1/4 of one quart out, for that I dumped some Mobile 1 down the oil fill and then extracted the missing amount. It took about 1 qt of Mobile 1 to help get that last 1/4 qt of dirty Royal Purple.

I too take that engine pan down and it is a PITA. With the filter relocated
to under the hood, my Mityvac extractor and 5 qts of RP with one qt of Mobile 1 I should be able to complete the oil change without ever taking that pan down again.

how did you relocate it? also you dont even have to take the underbody panel out to access the filter or the drain bolt.

I haven't relocated it yet...there are kits made so you can relocate it.

If you don't want oil anywhere it doesn't belong, removing the pan is best.

I've seen people make little trap doors in the belly pan to get to the plug and/or the filter.

Your entitled to your opinion I suppose.

I change my oil more frequently than some others and likely more than either
of you so anything that saves me from going under the car is worth it.

Until the two of you posted, this "conversation" was doing just fine...

LOL

Actually, clean motor oil is an irritant and not a toxin. Used motor oil can contain toxic substances such as benzene, lead, zinc and cadmium.

It isn't something I'd want to substitute for my Perlier.

just gets annoying to clean up any oil spill on the garage floor~

there is a little opening on the plastic underbody..

maybe i should try cutting it and making a larger whole for easier access?

what do you guys think? no harm rite?
