Default Complete tune up

I was thinking about doing a complete tune up on my Z. This will be my first one. Can someone tell me what else I need to do other then replacing the spark plugs and wires. Also what spark plugs should I get.

thanks.

How many miles do you have on it?

read your odometer, then look in your owner manual or check out the maintenance schedule. also avoid doing any unecessary maintenace and learn something about your car before attempting to do anything to it.

Spark plugs are good for 100k - platinum tips. No wires - there is a coil pack for each plug. Not sure what else you would need to do - air filter and regular oil changes are about it for
"tune-up". See owners manual for 30/60,000 mile service but don't pay the dealer to do all that - most of it is "inspect" and no real work other than some fluid changes.

if you are at 90k (dont wait till 100k) swap the spark plugs.

otherwise....not much to do for a tune up.

1. clean the K&N
2. Clean the MAF
3. use some prestone (fuel injector ONLY yellow bottle 2.99 at walmart) --you DONT need complete fuel system cleaner

The Z has no fuel filter by the way.

That's it!!!!

i suggest using dielectric grease on the top part of the spark plugs..... the part where the coil pack makes a connection and also on the battery terminals....the car will run much smoother.

I had a 2000 acura integra that after doing a tuneup was smooth but just wasn't THAT smooth....using the electrical grease on the sparkplugs where the boots connect and on the cap made the engine actually run whisper quiet...it took me by surprise....worked on the Z like a charm....just use a tiny amount otherwise you will be hurting more than helping.

Is there a write up on cleaning the MAF? I know how to do it on most cars, but don't want to jack anything up if there is a special way to do it on the Z. Use electric cleaner also right? Not carb cleaner?
