I have a 04 model. No problems yet. 3K miles on it mostly freeway. Anyone in Cal. having problems with there 04 350Z. Did Nissan fix the suspension problems, causing the front tire feathering and cupping for there 04's. New to this forum, seems like a lot of issues regarding the Z, got me wondering if I should have bought something else..

Hey ddm4u

How many times did your transmission fail on you?

I am on on Tranny #3...

roberto350z said that having the transmission replaced 3 times wasn't enough for the the California Lemon Law.

I thought it was... as long as there was the same problem 3 times, that it would then be elligble for Lemon Law.

Oh yea... do they also have to test drive your car an CONFIRM that these problems exist during your "hearing"?

Any info would be great... thanks!

As far as I know, yes. At my hearing the arbitrator went for a drive with me and he was able to see first hand the car drift to the right.

I was asking because my 2nd gear grind/ crunch is intermitent and I have read from the previous posts that the NNA arbitrators are really out to screw us. I wonder how hard of a time they will give me with this tranny issue.

I also had intermittent grinding from 2nd to 3rd gear, but for the last 2 months it hasn't happened at all. At the arbitration I told them the same and we could not duplicate the trouble. My tranny has been shifting fine for a while. The drifting however never got better after all the repair attempts.

So did they deny you buy back because they could not duplicate it?

No because my other problem which was the "drifting to the right"was duplicated and I won my case.

Did you ever have the "compression rod" TSB done to your car?

Yes, I had 3 alignments done, had front tires swapped, was given new tires and had compression rod replaced and nothing fixed my problem.

About how many times do you need to take the car in before the lemon law. I have taken the car in 3 times for tire feathering, have had it balanced, aligned, and the front two tires rotated. They will not replace the tires and they are completely shot. Do I have a case or do I need to go through another set of tires again?

Every state is different folks! Your owners/warranty manual will point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Do I still have legal rights to go into arbitration or with the BBB if I am a second owner of the car?

Default Arbitration for engine failure = new car?

I've read all of the above posts and noticed that most people have gone to arbitration over tire feathering, tranny failures, squeaks, rattles, etc. However, it doesn't look like any else has had an issue with oil consumption/engine failure.

I have an oil consumption problem and NNA has agreed to replace the entire engine. However, I'm fighting them to get the car replaced. The problem is, my car doesn't really qualify as a lemon. I've only taken the car in 3 times, once for the grease streak fix, and twice for the oil consumption problem. That being said, getting your engine replaced is a much more significant ordeal than squeaks and rattles or alignment issues. The resale value of the car is going to plunge if I have the engine replaced. Have bought and sold several used cars I know that it's damn near impossible to sell a car with a replaced engine. It's like a big red flag for people to avoid when buying a used car, and I intend to sell my car in 3 years or so.

So anyway, just wondering if anyone has gone to arbitration over having the car replaced for an engine failure.

Thanks

I'm done and won. Just awaiting the check for my Z from NNA. I'm so relieved that it is all over with. The sad part is that there is really no equivalent to the Z with respect to the performance, price, and looks of the car.

Congrats. The only thing I can agree is that there isn't a car that looks as good as the Z (new), but you know I'd rather have a not as nice looking car and get a car that offers better performance and great handling.

I don't care what anyone says, I'm happier than sh*t with my EVO. Can't beat turbocharged cars. Just my opinion.

Good luck.
