Question Amsoil 0w30 with Ea Amsoil Filter - 25,000 miles? Really?

Anyone trust Amsoil enough to actually run their 100% synthetic with their nanofiber Filter for the guaranteed 25k or one year, which ever comes first?

I saw the HR oil analysis thread and there were a few Amsoil's tested, but not with their filter and not for more then 3k, so please don't reference that thread. I've read it along with a lot of other stuff this morning, just looking for first hand experience.

I dont trust any oil enough to resist breakdown for that long. How much is this stuff? I mean whatever brand of synth you want is 22 bucks for the 5 quart container at walmart, and a pure one filter is 5 bucks at pep boys, or you can go dealer. Thats supposed to last you 7k( Even though I still change it around 3k.)

Id like to see the results of this Amsoil(not that I'd ever use it.) I guess you could be the first person to try it out. Just sounds like a hell of a gamble when oil changes really aren't that expensive.

I've used Mobile 1 5w30 since I bought the car brand new. And like you said, a change runs me 30 bucks for filter and 5 quarts at Wally-world.

The amsoil is 10.95 a quart and 16.00 for the filter. Which comes to $70 something for a change. But if it really lasts a year, then sure it saves a little money.

But I've been thinking about changing and been reading about German Castrol and Pennzoil Platinum. Also been reading about how mobile 1 isn't what it used to be anymore.

Amsoil though has been around, well, they actually made the first 100% synthetic back in the 70's. A buddy of mine here at work said he use to run it in his rx7 and had a buddy who ran it in his Vet. They both used it as described, which, 13 years ago was the oil lasted 25k and the filter had to be changed out at 12.5k

Thus why I'm looking for other first hand experience.

I just did the switch to AMSOIL but I got the ASL, I wish I got the SSO. Im going to run this oil for 5000KM & send it in for a test at Blackstone Laboratories & see what the results are. If I can run it the whole season, which is usually 10,000KM for me, I'll be happy spending $69CDN on 5qts & an oil filter.

I guess what I could do is just get it, put it in the car and sample it every 2.5k miles.

How much do I have to send to Blackstone for a test? And how much does a test cost?

The recommend 25k or a year max on the oil. I run SSO and an Ea, ran it from June of last year until March this year as it was my first cycle (6500mi). Blackstone results pending.

Looking to see if I can just do one change a year as my car doesn't see more than 8k miles per year normally.

personally do 1 year oil changes with 6 month napa or k&n oil filter change using amsoil. Don't know if I'd be comfortable waiting a full 25k, but since my car typically sees about 15k/year, I think the 6 month interval is good imo.

I run the Amsoil 0W30 and EA filter; I've run it 6000+ miles and have just changed my oil and filter again and plan to run it a full year (I won't drive 25,000 in a year). No problems.

I hope you will be posting your results in the analysis thread! 6500M is 10,400KM, that will be a nice comparison to my ASL results!

I would rather do a complete Royal Purple oil change every 1500 than spend 10 per qt and wonder if it is as good as the marketing hype.

Well. At the end of this change I am going to switch to SSO with a Ea filter.

I'm also going to flush my system before I switch.

I am then going to have the oil tested in 3k intervals.

I will post the results here and in the HR thread.

By the time I get started I will be around 28k. Sometime in the summer.

if you are gonna be that paranoid, stick to the 3750 k regular oil change that nissan recommends.

Its not paranoia. Its an experiment. One that will benifit everyone. I want to see it with my eyes and after this if its true ill run amsoil for life.
